President

The President serves as the chief student officer of ILSA. The President, along with the Executive Director represents ILSA in its relations with other organizations, serves as a voting member on the Board of Directors, serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee, in conjunction with the Executive Director and oversees and implements ILSA's many projects and activities.

The President's role includes the organization and production of materials for ILSA mailings, regular contributions of academic articles for The ILSA Quarterly, oversight of ILSA activities and programming, organization of the two yearly conferences and representation of ILSA at a wide variety of functions.

The role of the President also involves informing the ILSA Congress of Board decisions, setting the agenda for ILSA's Congresses, and appointing and/or recruiting and overseeing national and regional liaisons in conjunction with the Vice President and Executive Director

The President works closely with the Executive Director to ensure the smooth operation of ILSA, compiles annual reports, coordinates actively through the Executive Office, promotes ILSA programming, coordinates regional activity, and maintains the smooth operation of the organization. Furthermore, the President is responsible for preparing biweekly reports, and communicating the concerns of the members to the Executive Director. Constant communication between the President, other elected officers and the Executive Director is imperative.

Vice President

The responsibility of the Vice President is to assist the President in fulfilling his/her duty and to assume the role of Chief Student Officer in the President's absence. Other responsibilities of the Vice President include the organization of the Conference of International Law Journals in cooperation with the Executive office and the Host Journal, assist in program development for the two yearly conferences and oversight of the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law. The Vice President also works with the President to coordinate ILSA events and promotional projects, particularly in the area of career development and publications.

The Vice President is a voting member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and assists the President and Executive Director in coordinating board meetings and communicating with board members. The Vice President, in conjunction with the President, assists in the appointing and/or recruiting and overseeing of national and regional directors.

Along with the President, the Vice-President acts as ILSA's representative in its relations with other organizations and is also expected to prepare biweekly reports and contribute academic articles to the ILSA Quarterly. Constant communication between the Vice-President, the other elected officers and the Executive Director is imperative.

Chief Communications Officer

The Chief Communications Officer is a voting member of the Board of Directors. The responsibilities include communication with regional liaisons on a regular basis and monitoring regional activities, supervision of the registration process at the Congresses and submission of academic articles to The ILSA Quarterly.

The Chief Communications Officer shall manage communications among chapters within ILSA, promote views of the students, prepare biweekly reports and disseminate information between officers, directors, the Executive office and the students. Constant communication between the Chief Communications Officer, the other elected officers and the Executive Director is imperative. Computer skills are a must for anyone interested in obtaining this position.

RUNNING FOR AN ELECTED POSITION

Officers are elected each spring at the ILSA Spring Conference. Any student that is a member of ILSA may run for an elected student officer position. More information about student officer elections can be found here.
