Prof. Mark E. Wojcik
The John Marshall Law School

Mark E. Wojcik is a professor of law at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he has taught courses in Public International Law, International Criminal Law, International Business Transactions, International Trade Law, International Human Rights Law, Torts, Lawyering Skills, and Lawyering Skills for International Lawyers.  

He also teaches short courses at the Facultad Libre Derecho de Monterrey in Mexico, the University of Lucerne Faculty of Law in Switzerland, and the International Law Institute in Washington, D.C.

He clerked at the Nebraska Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and served as Court Counsel to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau.  He practiced customs and international trade law in New York before returning to Chicago.

He is active in many bar associations, and currently serves as the Publications Officer for the American Bar Association Section of International Law. He was for many years also the editor-in-chief of the ABA International Law News.

He previously chaired the Illinois State Bar Association’s Section on International and Immigration Law and now serves on the ISBA Board of Governors.

In the Association of American Law Schools, he has been the chair of the Section on North American Cooperation, the Section on International Legal Exchange, and Section on Graduate Programs for Foreign Lawyers. He is an officer of the AALS Section on International Law.

His recent publications include Illinois Legal Research, a book published by Carolina Academic Press.  He is also the author of Introduction to Legal English, a guide for lawyers and law students who speak English as a second language, published (now in a second edition) by the International Law Institute.  He also edited a book on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, and is the new editor of a treatise on Doing Business in Mexico. He founded the Global Legal Skills Conference which annually presents an international conference on legal writing and other essential skills for international lawyers.
