UNDERSTANDING GENOCIDE
Prevention, Prosection and Progress
October 2-4, 2008 | Vermont Law School
ILSA Genocide Conference Website
Genocide is one of the most controversial and important topics in international criminal law. With the ongoing atrocities in Darfur and the "ethnic cleansing" in Kenya, it is especially appropriate to focus on what constitutes genocide and what can be done to prevent it. ILSA would like to invite the international community to engage in a discussion about genocide at its annual fall conference, which is being hosted by the International Law Society at Vermont Law School. Raising awareness among individuals in the international law community is the first step to changing the way that that the world reacts to acts of genocide.
For more information on the conference, including how to register, please go to the ILSA Genocide Conference Website.
The ILSA fall conference will be held October 2-4, 2008, allowing students attending the conference to experience a breathtaking Vermont autumn. The VLS campus is a laboratory of ideas: a wellspring of legal energy rippling throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. The Law School is situated on 13 acres of beautiful, rolling campus in the picturesque and historic town of South Royalton along the banks of the scenic White River. Within this safe, tranquil setting, students find 18 turn-of-the-century buildings filled with the latest technology including Oakes Hall, the environmentally state of the art classroom building that opened in the fall of 1998 and Debevoise Hall, a strikingly elegant structure built in 1893 that remains a local landmark and symbol of education for the community.
