The Dillard Award brings together the best Memorials from each of the National and Regional Competitions, regardless of whether the authoring team advanced to the Shearman & Sterling International Rounds. Each memorial is re-evaluated by a three-judge panel. The respondent and applicant scores are combined to form a total score for each team. The first place Dillard team will have its Applicant and Respondent Memorials published in the 2009 Jessup Compendium. Plaques are awarded to the top five scoring teams, and each team member from the top ten scoring teams will receive a certificate.
