The Italian National Rounds of the Jessup
A warm welcome to the Italian National Competition page of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition! The Jessup is a Moot Court Competition revolving around a Compromis, framing a fictional case before the International Court of Justice. The Compromis is published each year in late September by the International Law Students Association (ILSA) in Chicago. It is the same case for over 600 universities from over 100 countries. Italy is now one of them.
The competition takes place in two phases: first, a national qualifying tournament, and second, the international competition in Washington, D.C.
The Italian National Rounds will be held in late February 2008 in Milan in order to determine which team qualifies for the International Competition in Washington, D.C., in April 2008. Every Italian Law School and every Law Faculty is eligible and welcome to participate with a team consisting of two to five students. The deadline for registration for 2008 is November 30, 2007.
The entire competition takes place in English. Each team is required to prepare one Applicant and one Respondent memorial. The oral part of the competition consists of 90 Minutes of pleading in front of a panel of three Judges; each team is allotted 45 Minutes for their oral arguments.
