Jessup 2010 - Competition Registration

All Jessup teams must register with the ILSA Executive Office. In some countries, teams must also separately register with their Regional or National Administrator. If you are unsure whether your team is subject to a separate Regional or National registration requirement, please inquire with the ILSA Executive Office by sending an email to jessup@ilsa.org

Please make sure to read through the instructions on this page before entering the online registration system. Please remember that registration is not complete until the registration fee
has been paid and the online registration form has been filled out.

Important Deadlines

• 18 September 2009 Early Registration Deadline
• 6 November 2009 Deadline for Registration, Payment and Eligibility Inquiries for Schedule I (U.S.) Teams
• 16 November 2009 Deadline for Eligibility Inquires and Waiver Applications for Schedule II and III Teams
• 4 December 2009 Deadline for Registration and Payment for Schedule II and III teams

• 15 December 2009 Withdrawal of Schedule I Teams after this date will result in a 20% forfeiture of the Registration Fee
• 31 December 2009 Withdrawal of Schedule I Teams after this date will result in a 50% forfeiture of the Registration Fee
• 11 January 2010 Withdrawal of Schedule I Teams after this date will result in a 100% forfeiture of the Registration Fee

Registration Fees

Schedules

Your team’s registration fee will be determined by the following country schedules:

• Schedule I: United States
• Schedule II: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom.
• Schedule III: All other countries and territories.

Jessup Registration Fee

The regular registration fees for the Jessup Competition are as follows:

• Schedule I Jessup Registration Fee: US$925.00
• Schedule II Jessup Registration Fee : US$420.00
• Schedule III Jessup Registration Fee: US$160.00

Reduced Fee for Schools with an ILSA Chapter

An ILSA Chapter is a student group, such as an International Law Society, that is dedicated to ILSA’s mission of promoting the study and understanding of international law. Schools with a registered ILSA Chapter are eligible to pay a reduced Jessup registration fee.

Teams from schools that have a registered ILSA Chapter for the 2009-2010 academic year may pay a reduced fee according to the following scale:

• Schedule I Reduced Fee: US$700.00
• Schedule II Reduced Fee: US$360.00
• Schedule III Reduced Fee: US$130.00

Early Registration Discount

Teams that register by 18 September 2009 will be eligible to receive a discount off of the 2010 Jessup Registration Fee according to the following scale:

• Schedule I Early Registration Discount: US$50.00
• Schedule II Early Registration Discount: US$40.00
• Schedule III Early Registration Discount: US$30.00

Late Fees

ILSA reserves the right not to accept registrations after the deadline. If a team’s late registration is accepted, the team must pay a late fee according to the following scale:

• Schedule I Late Fee: US$90.00
• Schedule II Late Fee: US$60.00
• Schedule III Late Fee: US$30.00

Registration Fee Waivers

In certain exceptional circumstances, ILSA will consider waiving the registration fee. Requests for waivers will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will be granted only upon a demonstration of need. Teams must formally apply for a waiver by filling out and submitting the 2010 Waiver Application Form.

Completing the Online Registration Process

ILSA is introducing an interactive online registration process which will allow teams to modify certain information after they have begun registering. Please make sure to read all the information contained in this page before advancing to the registration form. The registration system opens in a new window, so please make sure your browser allows pop-ups from ilsa.org.

School Information

Select your country from the drop-down menu, and then select your University. If your University is not listed, please select “Other” and provide the name of your university in the space provided. Provide your law schools’ dean, the year when your university last competed in the Jessup competition (if known), and whether your school has a registered ILSA Chapter for the 2009-2010 academic year. Schools with an ILSA Chapter are eligible to pay a reduced Jessup registration fee.

Teams must then provide an e-mail address and choose a password that will be used to login to the registration system at a later time. We strongly suggest using the Team Contact’s e-mail address for this purpose. Information entered during this step may not be modified at a later date except through direct notification to the ILSA Executive Office by email at jessup@ilsa.org.

Team Contact

Each team must identify one person to serve as the Official Team Contact, who will receive all Jessup Competition correspondence on behalf of the team. Please indicate the Team Contact's position in relation to the Team. The Team Contact is usually a Team Member, a Team Advisor, or a school administrator. Notice to the Team Contact constitutes notice to all Team Members.

Once the form is complete, please double check your information. If everything is correct, click the “Continue” button.

VERY IMPORTANT: YOU MUST PRESS THE "SAVE AND EXIT" BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO SAVE YOUR REGISTRATION INFORMATION.

Please check your school and team contact information below. If there is an error, press the "Cancel" button at the bottom of this page to clear all data and begin the registration process anew.

If the school and team contact information is correct, you can proceed to register team members and advisors or leave the site and register them later. Don't forget, to leave the site, press the "Save and Exit" button at the bottom of the page in order to save your registration information.

Each student who contributes to the team’s work product must be registered as a Team Member. Each team is responsible for ensuring that its Team Members satisfy the eligibility requirements of Jessup Official Rule 2.0. A Jessup team may have two to five Team Members. If your team has not yet chosen its Team Members, you may register them at a later date. However, all Team Members MUST be registered by 4 December 2009.

Team coaches, faculty advisors, and other individuals who help organize, advise, or train a Jessup team MUST register as a "Team Advisor". Jessup teams are not required to have a Team Advisor.

To register team members and advisors, use the box at the top of the page. Select participant or advisor, and then provide the requested information. For team members, the degree provided should be the degree currently being pursued by the team member (e.g., J.D., LL.B., LL.M.). After each individual's registration information is submitted, their information will appear in a list at the bottom of this page for your review. If the information is not correct, you can "Remove" the person and submit their information again. However, once you press "Save and Exit", each added team member's information will be permanently saved and cannot be modified. Advisor information can be modified at any time.

Teams may return to the registration site to add new team members (up to a maximum of five members per team) at any time prior to 4 December 2009.

Page 3: Payment

After you have saved your registration form, a confirmation page will appear with links to 1) pay by credit card online using Paypal; 2) print an invoice to complete with your credit card, check, or money order details, which you may submit to ILSA by email or regular mail; or 3) contact ilsa@ilsa.org to obtain wire bank transfer instructions.

Once payment has been received by ILSA, the ILSA Executive Office will send an email to the Team Contact with receipt and a team number. Teams can also log back into the registration system to check their payment status, which will be indicated in the School Information section.
