Please complete this application form if you would like to volunteer to serve as a memorial and/or oral rounds judge for the Shearman & Sterling International Rounds of the Jessup Competition. If you are interested in judging at a Regional or National Competition, please refer to the 2009 Jessup National Rounds Schedule and directly contact the individual listed as the Administrator.

When filling out the form below, please complete all relevant fields. It is essential that you provide an email address so that we can communicate with you. We will start to confirm schedules in early February by email. If your availability changes, please resubmit a new form online, which will replace the already existing form.

Students are not eligible to serve as judges, except LL.M. and other post-graduate degree candidates who are not directly affiliated with any team participating in the International Rounds.

CONFLICTS
Please list any schools, countries, or teams which you should not judge because of a personal or professional affiliation. MEMORIALS
We need Memorial Judges for the International Rounds and for some National Rounds. With the exception of the Advanced International Rounds, memorial judging takes place remotely and in advance of the competition. Memorials will be emailed with instructions, and scores may be returned by fax or by email. Memorials for the International Rounds will be sent out in late February and scores will be due by Monday, March 16.

Oral Rounds - Nationals
This year, some countries will hold their 'National Rounds' in Washington, D.C. on the Saturday before the International Rounds commence. We will need a small number of judges for these rounds. Please check all times you will be available.

Oral Rounds - Preliminary Rounds
More than 100 teams will compete in this year's Preliminary Rounds. This is when our need for judges is the greatest. It is also one of the most exciting times to be in the judges room. Because we expect a large number of judge volunteers during our 50th Anniversary Year, scheduling will be subject to availability of rounds, and volunteers will be pre-scheduled for no more than 8 preliminary rounds. However, please note that judges will have an opportunity to add more rounds to their schedules by volunteering to serve as a back-up judge during the competition. We frequently use back-ups because of last-minute cancellations and conflicts. Please check all times you will be available.

Advanced Rounds
Both memorial judges and oral rounds judges are needed for the Advanced Rounds, which will take place on Thursday and Friday. Memorial judging for the Advanced Rounds will take place during the round at the Fairmont Hotel. Please note that there is limited availability to judge these oral rounds since fewer teams remain in the competition on these days. Please check all times you will be available.
