ILSA Announces First Annual Summer Conference
The International Law Students Association is pleased to announce that Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) has been selected as the host of the very first annual ILSA Summer Conference. The 2008 ILSA Summer Conference, entitled “Universalism and Regionalism in International Law,” will be held August 12-15, 2008, on the UFMG campus in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
For over a decade, ILSA has helped students organize and finance international law conferences in cooperation with universities and other educational and professional organizations. Conferences allow students to learn about emerging topics in international law. Conferences also provide students an excellent opportunity to network with practitioners, academics, and other law students from around the world.
The International Law Society at UFMG plans to work with organizations and law schools throughout South America to organize a successful, thought-provoking Summer Conference. UFMG students also plan to coordinate their plans with the organizers of the 73rd Biennial Conference of the International Law Association, which will begin August 17, 2008 in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
ILSA would like to thank the ILSA Chapter at UFMG for putting together a dynamic plan for ILSA’s inaugural Summer Conference. We look forward to working with the students and faculty of UFMG, and with the broader legal community in Brazil to make the Conference a rewarding experience for the participants and all others involved.
