Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Jessup Competition) is the world’s largest and premier moot court competition in the field of international law with about 700 teams from nearly 100 countries competing every year. Now in its 65th year, the Jessup is also the oldest moot court competition devoted to public international law. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.

Jessup Ghana offers Ghanaian law students a unique platform to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout law school to a real-world problem; thereby deepening their understanding of international law and honing their advocacy, critical thinking, and research skills.

Ghana has been involved in the Jessup Competition since 1977 and has grown to be one of the largest Jessup jurisdictions on the African continent! The 2024 Ghana Qualifying Rounds of the Jessup Competition marks the 16th edition of the Ghana National Rounds.

The Ghana National Rounds of the 2024 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition will be hosted in Accra, from 12 - 16 February. The National Rounds will determine which team will represent Ghana at the White & Case International Rounds in Washington, DC. 

I must say that the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition was very exciting. Mooting in the international rounds boosted my confidence. I felt empowered to take on the world as I argued before world renowned lawyers. Additionally, the endless training sessions I had during the various stages of the competition improved my public speaking and advocacy skills.
