Announcing the the 2009 Jessup Topic

Looking ahead to next year's competition, ILSA is delighted to announce that the 2009 Jessup Compromis will address -- The Power and Authority of the International Court of Justice.

ILSA is also proud to announce that 2009 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Jessup Competition. We hope that everyone will join us in the year long celebration. Please keep an eye out for announcements about events commemorating the Anniversary.


Announcing the Conclusion of the 2008 Shearman & Sterling International Rounds

The ILSA Executive Office congratulates all of the teams that participated in the 2008 Shearman & Sterling International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Overall, there were 110 teams in attendance from 77 different countries: 97 competing teams, 11 exhibition teams, and 2 observing teams. Click here for a list of participating teams.

The second batch of basic research materials for the 2008 Jessup Competition has been released. The Basic Materials are a collection of research materials designed to ensure that all teams, regardless of budget and access to information, start from the same position. D.M. Harish Moot Court Competition - February 8-10, 2008

The Government Law College, located in Mumbai, India, is proud to announce the 9th D.M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Moot Court Competition, to be held February 8-10, 2008. The competition is open to the international law school community, welcoming law schools from diverse legal traditions to compete against one another on a problem based on International Law. M.M. Singhvi Moot Court Competition - January 10 to 13, 2008

National Law University, Jodhpur (India) announces the Eleventh Annual M.M. Singhvi Memorial - Bar Council of India - International Law Moot Court Competition to be held in Jodhpur (India) from January 10-13, 2008. National Law University invites law schools to participate in the Competition. The moot problem will be based on contemporary issues in International Law. ILSA is delighted to announce the release of the Competition Problem (the Compromis) for the 2008 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. The Compromis can be found in both HTML and Microsoft Word format on the Jessup Homepage at www.ilsa.org/jessup/.


ILSA Fall Conference - International Environmental Law - October 11-14, 2007

The 2007 ILSA Fall Conference will be held October 11-14 at Denver University Sturm College of Law in Denver, Colorado, and will focus on International Environmental Law. There will be a keynote address and a number of engaging panels on the topic. For more information, please go to the conference website.


International Law Weekend - October 25-27, 2007

International Law Weekend, organized by the American Branch of the International Law Association, will be held October 25-27 at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. The theme this year is "Toward a New Vision of International Law." As a member of the organizing committee, ILSA helped plan and will provide volunteers to administer the conference. Please email us if your ILSA chapter is interested in attending or volunteering. Admission for students is free. For more information on the program, please go to the American Branch's website.

Schools may still register their chapters for the 2007-2008 academic year.


2007-2008 ILSA Student Officers Elected

ILSA congratulates its new student officers, elected at the ILSA Spring Conference on Saturday, March 31, 2007. Robert Magouirk of Tulane Law School (President), Krishma Parsad of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (Vice President), and Niki Dasarathy of Case Western Reserve University (Chief Communications Officer) will serve for the 2007-2008 academic year.

ILSA is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the Shearman & Sterling International Rounds. The winner of the 2007 Shearman & Sterling Jessup Cup was the University of Sydney. ILSA congratulates the University of Sydney and all other schools that participated. For a more detailed list of the results, please see the Jessup homepage.


Announcing the 2007 Dillard and Baxter Awards

ILSA is pleased to announce the top ten teams from the Dillard Award and the top three teams on each side for the Baxter Award. Congratulations to all the teams!

Dillard Rankings

The Dillard award is decided among the best memorials from the Regional and National Competitions (not necessarily the team that advances to Washington). The memorials are re-judged by 3 judges on each side. The award goes to the memorial with the highest combined score for Applicant and Respondent.
